Bloody finally, I've posted a photograph and it's good to be back. My lack of fresh material has been due to a very uninspiring last few months. We had some big problems with moving flat which left us without our furniture for 2 months. This resulted in my having to live out of a suitcase at a friends house. I've also been working flat-out in order to save up for the Canon 5D which, after finding the best deal, I shall be purchasing in the next few days.
Yes, things are starting to look up again. I've managed to get a proper www.Ilikephoto.com address and after I get the 5D I will start to seriously pursue a career in photography. I had originally wanted to study film but my conscience was telling me that photography was the path I wanted to take, and so it shall be.
With regard to this photograph. I was on the way back home from having some dinner when I noticed this homeless person sitting outside the cinema with his hands clasped together as though in prayer. Feeling sorry for him but thinking nothing of it I continued walking before turning around for a final look at which point I noticed what was written above him. I ran back home to get my camera and tripod. After taking a few straight up shots I noticed this beautiful blond girl about to cross the street. I put it on a slower shutter speed, waited for her to get into position and took the photo. I think all the elements in this photo work together beautifully; him sitting on the floor, the words above and the girl fading away from him. This is the exact effect I wanted and I'm so happy it came out right.
Taken at 19mm, F/7.2, exposure time 1.23 seconds and ISO-80. Converted in Photoshop to Black and White (the complicated way, aka, my I'm-not-really-sure-how-to-do-this-properly way).
